It appears veterans Evan Turner and Chandler Parsons will be out of the Atlanta Hawks' lineup for the foreseeable future as the team focuses on giving its younger players more minutes, The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn reports.

Turner, who's never averaged less than 20 minutes per game through his first nine seasons, is registering just 12.8 minutes per contest in 18 appearances with Atlanta. His production has faltered as a result, with the former No. 2 overall pick averaging 3.3 points and two assists per contest. Turner is inactive for Friday's game against the Boston Celtics.

As for Parsons, the former Florida Gator has only featured in five games for the Hawks so far this campaign.

With a young roster that includes 2019 first-rounders De'Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish, the team is apparently looking to prioritize the development of its building blocks.

Both Turner and Parsons are in the final season of lucrative four-year contracts signed in the 2016 offseason. Between the two, Turner figures to be the more viable buyout candidate, as he's owed $18.6 million this season, while Parsons is being paid $25.1 million.

The Hawks are reportedly also interested in shipping one of the club's expiring contracts as part of a package for Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond.
