Report: Zion loses inch, officially measured at 6-foot-6
Zion Williamson is facing lofty expectations as he enters his maiden NBA season. However, this year's No. 1 overall pick has reportedly underperformed in one area: his official height.
The New Orleans Pelicans' star rookie was recently measured at 6-foot-6, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania. That's an inch shorter than Williamson was measured at Duke, which listed the athletic 19-year-old at 6-foot-7, 285 pounds.
The revelation isn't entirely shocking. Last month, a report from the New York Times' Marc Stein indicated that the NBA would require teams to certify and submit accurate measurements for every player this preseason - without their shoes on. That means many of the league's players will likely see their official measurement change this year.
