ESPN plans to add the commentator to its NBA studio coverage during the 2019-20 season, with Wednesday night being the most likely time slot, sources told Bobby Burack and Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead.
The news comes on the heels of reports that ESPN will be replacing Michelle Beadle with Rachel Nichols and Maria Taylor on "NBA Countdown." Former NBA All-Star Chauncey Billups is also reportedly leaving the show to become a game analyst on Los Angeles Clippers broadcasts.
Smith currently hosts ESPN's "First Take" and "The Stephen A. Smith Show" on ESPN Radio. He also makes frequent appearances on "SportsCenter" and other programs on the network.
