Report: Butler to meet with Heat on Sunday, Rockets next week
Jimmy Butler will meet with the Miami Heat in South Florida after free agency opens Sunday, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who adds Butler will likely meet with the Houston Rockets early next week in Los Angeles.
The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly haven't ruled out working with Butler on a sign-and-trade if he wants to leave Philly. Given their respective cap constraints, that remains the only way either the Rockets or Heat could acquire him.
Butler also plans to meet with the 76ers, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania, who adds other teams with max salary space - including the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets - have interest in the swingman.
The 29-year-old was born and raised in suburban Houston, while a source told Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press that Dwyane Wade's final home game gave Butler a positive impression of the Heat organization.
