An NBA-record four Canadians were selected in the first round of the draft, including Duke star RJ Barrett and Gonzaga's Brandon Clarke.
The previous record was set when Andrew Wiggins, Nik Stauskas, and Tyler Ennis were taken in the first 18 selections of the 2014 draft. Dwight Powell became the fourth Canadian selected that year when he was taken 45th overall.

Additionally, Canada broke the record for most non-American players selected in one draft with Michigan's Ignas Brazdeikis being selected No. 47 by the Sacramento Kings and Iowa State guard Marial Shayok at No. 54 by the Philadelphia 76ers. France previously held the record at five taken during the 2016 draft.
