Philadelphia 76ers forward James Ennis III will decline his $1.8-million player option for next season and become an unrestricted free agent, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Ennis signed a two-year pact with the Houston Rockets last summer before being dealt to the Sixers at the trade deadline. His two-way play proved valuable off the bench for Philly during the playoffs, as he averaged 7.5 points in 21 minutes per game.

That production could help earn Ennis a multi-year contract. The 28-year-old has played for six teams in five NBA seasons after beginning his pro career in Australia and Puerto Rico.
