Report: Lakers add Vogel, Hollins, Woodson to coaching search
The Lakers' negotiations with Tyronn Lue are reportedly dead, and now the team is adding Frank Vogel, Lionel Hollins, and Mike Woodson to its head coaching search, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Of those three, Vogel most recently held an NBA head coaching role, leading the Orlando Magic in 2017-18. Hollins, 65, last coached in the league with the Brooklyn Nets in 2016. And Woodson, 61, was an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers until last season, and he most recently ran an NBA bench for the New York Knicks in 2014.
An anticipated deal between the Lakers and Lue reportedly fell apart on Wednesday amid chatter of the team wanting to hire Jason Kidd as an assistant. Lakers advisor Kurt Rambis is playing a "major role" in the coaching search, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
