The Los Angeles Clippers' commitment to head coach Doc Rivers became official Saturday, just one day after their season came to an end with a Game 6 loss to the Golden State Warriors, according to the Los Angeles Times' Andrew Greif.
Rivers said in March that an extension had already been agreed upon after rumors began swirling that he may depart the Clippers to coach the Los Angeles Lakers. Rivers' original contract had an opt-out clause for this summer.
The 57-year-old has amassed a 307-185 regular-season record since joining the Clippers via a trade from the Boston Celtics in 2013. His .624 overall winning percentage with the franchise stands as the best mark he's posted with any of the three teams he's coached to date, which also includes a stint with the Orlando Magic from 1999 to 2004.
