Long since eliminated from playoff contention, the Minnesota Timberwolves have little left to play for over their final two regular-season games.

Well, except for an awesome brand tie-in with a historic television show.

The team announced Tuesday that it has temporarily rebranded across all digital platforms as the "Minnesota Direwolves" in reference to the upcoming season premiere of HBO's fantasy epic "Game of Thrones."

"Our fans love 'Game of Thrones,' and just as important, our entire state has long celebrated being known as the North and being home to wolves," Timberwolves Direwolves chief marketing officer Mike Grahl said in a statement from the team. "With our extreme climate and players who relish in it, we are thrilled the Minnesota Timberwolves provided a natural partnership to celebrate one of the most popular shows of this generation."

In addition to an updated logo, the Timberwolves unveiled a limited edition Direwolves collection in their online store featuring a selection of T-shirts, hoodies, and hats.

The final season of "Game of Thrones" premieres April 14.
