Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward has been ruled out for Monday's game against the visiting Denver Nuggets because he's still in concussion protocol, head coach Brad Stevens announced.

Stevens added that Hayward is unlikely to play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, though his status for that game hasn't been determined yet.

Hayward suffered an injury during the first quarter of Saturday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, turning headfirst into the shoulder of screening big man John Collins.

Originally deemed to have suffered a neck strain, Hayward was officially listed as being in concussion protocol Sunday.

The 28-year-old former All-Star has averaged 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in a slow comeback from the gruesome tibia fracture and dislocated ankle that caused him to miss all but five minutes of the 2017-18 season.
