The Chicago Bulls are expected to begin discussions of a contract buyout with veteran center Robin Lopez, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lopez is owed $14.4 million this season, which is the last on his current contract.

The 30-year-old has seen his role reduced in Chicago this year as the team has prioritized finding playing time for young talents Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. In the six seasons prior to 2018-19, Lopez averaged 10.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in just under 28 minutes per night.
