The Orlando Magic's Mo Bamba has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left tibia, the team announced Tuesday.
Orlando did not reveal an estimated recovery timeline for the 20-year-old, though the team is optimistic the rookie center will be able to recover without undergoing surgery. League sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that Bamba is expected to miss significant time.
"Thankfully we caught this early and are able to treat Mo without surgery," said Magic president Jeff Weltman via a team statement. "His return to action will depend on how he responds to treatment."
Bamba, the No. 6 selection in this year's draft, has averaged 6.2 points, five rebounds, and 1.4 blocks through 47 games.
