Both the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks are preparing trade offers for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics, who've long been linked to Davis, are not a top target for the five-time All-Star, sources told Haynes, who added there's "a growing belief of uncertainty" that Kyrie Irving will re-sign with the Celtics.
Lakers officials met Monday morning to start coordinating the team's approach to acquiring Davis, according to Haynes. An earlier report said the Pelicans would ask the Lakers to include at least Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac, and a first-round pick in any offer.
The Knicks, who ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported would be "aggressive" in trying to acquire Davis, could also enter the fray as part of an attempt to lure Kevin Durant as a free agent this summer. The Knicks are currently in position to land a top-five pick in June's draft, which could be a valuable trade chip with players such as Zion Williamson expected to be available.
Despite Davis asking to be moved, the Pelicans reportedly don't feel pressure to deal the big man before the Feb. 7 trade deadline.
