Report: LeBron would like Lakers to add Melo
LeBron James would like to see Carmelo Anthony in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, a league source told The Athletic's Joe Vardon.
The Houston Rockets parted ways with Anthony on Nov. 15, although he still remains on the team's payroll. Houston was reportedly trying to facilitate a trade involving the 34-year-old veteran - rather than waiving him outright - but he can't be dealt until Dec. 15 because he signed as a free agent this past summer.
Sources told Vardon that no request has been made by James to Lakers president Magic Johnson or general manager Rob Pelinka. When asked last month about the idea of Anthony joining the Lakers, James said it was "not a question to ask me."
James and Anthony have been close friends since both entered the NBA in 2003. The Lakers could be in the market for a frontcourt addition, as forward Brandon Ingram will undergo a precautionary MRI after spraining his ankle Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs.
