LeBron's 'Space Jam 2' receives $21.8M tax credit to shoot in California

LeBron James will be staying in California to film "Space Jam 2."

The upcoming sequel to 1996's "Space Jam," starring the Los Angeles Lakers forward, was granted a $21.8-million tax credit to shoot in California after being chosen for the state's Film & TV Tax Credit Program 2.0, according to Dave McNary of Variety. A total of 15 film projects were selected for the program, with "Space Jam 2" receiving the largest credit.

Production on "Space Jam 2" is tentatively slated to begin in 2019 during the NBA offseason. Terence Nance will direct the film, while Ryan Coogler will produce.
