Warriors' Curry to return vs. Pistons after 11-game absence

The two-time defending NBA champions will get their leading scorer back this weekend.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters Wednesday that Stephen Curry will be in the lineup Saturday against the Detroit Pistons, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell.

By the time he returns, Curry will have missed 11 games - including Thursday's highly anticipated matchup with the Toronto Raptors - with a left groin strain.

The 30-year-old sharpshooter had hoped to be in uniform Thursday with Kerr acknowledging how much Curry enjoys playing north of the border - his father, Dell Curry, is a former Raptor. Nonetheless, Kerr and the Warriors' training staff are erring on the side of caution and giving Curry a few more days of rest.

"He's looked great the last several days scrimmaging, shooting the ball, his movement. To me, he looks like he's ready to go and that's the great news," Kerr said. "If this were a playoff game, he would be absolutely be playing.

"But it's November. It's so early."

Golden State has played .500 basketball over the past 10 games sans Curry but has now strung together three straight victories following a rare four-game losing skid.

The five-time All-Star is averaging 29.5 points, five rebounds, 6.1 assists, and one steal while shooting a career-best 49.2 percent from 3-point range for the 15-7 Warriors.
