Report: Warriors not interested in Melo despite open roster slot

The reigning two-time NBA champions don't appear to be the next landing spot for Carmelo Anthony.

The Golden State Warriors reportedly have "no interest" in acquiring the 34-year-old forward, a league source told the Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.

The 7-7 Houston Rockets will be parting ways with Anthony after a brief 10-game stint in which the 10-time All-Star missed more shots than he recorded rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks combined. He'll reportedly remain on Houston's roster for the time being while his representatives seek out a new home.

Warriors forward Draymond Green still believes Anthony can carve out a role for himself somewhere, despite his recent runs with the Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder leaving a lot to be desired.

"Of course, he can still play in this league," Green said. "There is no doubt in my mind. He's still Melo."

With a star-studded core at the center of their success, the Warriors have brought on a number of veterans and reclamation projects in past years to bolster their second unit and win those players championships. Some of those players include David West, JaVale McGee, and Nick Young, while DeMarcus Cousins remains sidelined as he works his way back from a major Achilles injury.

Anthony seemingly won't be the next name to latch on to the powerhouse 12-4 Warriors, who are reportedly keeping a roster spot vacant to save tax money and potentially add someone at the midway point of the campaign.
