Brooklyn Nets big man Ed Davis doesn't excuse his shoving of Solomon Hill late in Friday's game at Smoothie King Center, but he also believes the New Orleans Pelicans forward exaggerated the contact which led to a technical foul being called.
Hill approached Brooklyn's bench during a timeout as the Nets trailed 116-115 on the scoreboard following a Jrue Holiday jumper. Davis then used his forearm to keep him away, but Hill tumbled to the ground as a result.

"It was a dumb play by me for putting the team in that position, but he's a certified clown for the flop," Davis said in the locker room afterward.
"I entertained a clown, and that's what happens. I don't think it should have been a tech, but I put it in the refs' hands and they made that call. Like I said, the clown won the battle."

Davis was assessed a technical for his actions, with Jrue Holiday converting a free throw to increase New Orleans' lead to two points. The Nets had an opportunity to tie or win the game with a 3-pointer, but All-Star Anthony Davis intercepted the inbound pass to seal the win and keep the Pelicans undefeated at 4-0.
The Nets fall to 2-3 on the season with the loss. Davis notched five points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
