Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins have all donned their nation's colors for Team USA, but not at the same time.

Five NBA teammates haven't been on the same USA Basketball team before, but Thompson hopes he and his fellow Golden State Warriors standouts are on the roster for the 2019 FIBA World Cup and 2020 Summer Olympics.

"That would be awesome," Thompson told ESPN's Nick Friedell. "I don't know if that's ever happened in the history of the NBA, so that would be awesome. It gets me excited just thinking about it."

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was recently named an assistant Team USA coach, and he'll work on Gregg Popovich's staff. However, Jerry Colangelo, the team's managing director, says Kerr wasn't selected to help entice his Warriors players to join the team.

The five superstars will have an equal opportunity to crack the squad, along with everyone else in the player pool.

"The first thing we had to determine, and we think we have a pretty good feel for this, is who's really committed," Colangelo said during a conference call. "Who's really interested in moving forward with us. There are a lot of candidates on the Warriors who have indicated they wish to be part of it.

"So as we kind of watch this season, and this is not the secret sauce, but basically we have to monitor what's happening during the course of the regular season in the NBA as it relates to injuries, as it relates to other circumstances that come up before we get down to really inviting the number of individuals that we plan to, to come to our camp next summer in preparation for the World Cup."

Thompson, Durant, Green, and Cousins were all members of the 2016 men's national team that won Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro, though Durant was with the Oklahoma City Thunder at the time. Curry withdrew his name from consideration because of knee and ankle injuries.
