The San Antonio Spurs announced shooting guard Lonnie Walker IV will undergo surgery Monday to repair a tear in his right medial meniscus. The 19-year-old went down five minutes into his preseason debut, finishing with six points and one assist in the brief outing.
Walker IV is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The team hasn't announced an official timetable for his return.
Walker IV previously tore his right meniscus during a practice last July ahead of his lone collegiate season at the University of Miami. He wound up playing 32 games (18 starts), averaging 11.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 34.6 percent on 3-pointers. He was selected 18th overall in this year's draft.
