Shaq: Kobe unretiring 'would be the biggest sports announcement in history'

Although Kobe Bryant continues to insist he has no interest in coming out of retirement, it hasn't stopped some people - including former teammate Shaquille O'Neal - from wondering what would happen if he did.

On a recent episode of "The Big Podcast with Shaq," O'Neal said Bryant rejoining the Los Angeles Lakers would be a monumental moment in sports history.

"Everybody knows who Kobe is. You mean to tell me Kobe can't give somebody a nice 15-20 minutes a game?" O'Neal said. "... If he came back at 40, the announcement would be the biggest sports announcement in history. The NBA's jersey thing would triple in one day. Everybody would be talking about it.

"He don't even have to play great, just come play 15-20 minutes a game as a Laker - and then if they happen to do well, it would probably be one of the greatest stories in NBA history. And Kobe likes stuff like that, that's all I'm saying."

BIG3 co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz stated on a conference call last month that he heard Bryant would be suiting up for the three-on-three league, but Bryant's camp was quick to dismiss the rumor.
