Listen: LeBron, KD rap track released
The rap collaboration between LeBron James and Kevin Durant has finally been released.
The pair recorded "It Ain't Easy" in Cleveland during the 2011 NBA lockout, but it remained a secret until recording company Spider Studios shared a snippet of the song last summer. Now, it's been released in full.
Producer and engineer Franky Stewart, aka Franky Wahoo, told Noisey's Jabbari Weekes it was only supposed to be Durant in the studio that day, "but then LeBron James ended up showing up and then Kevin Durant had instrumentals that he'd already written on."
Not wanting the song to leak without being properly credited, Wahoo decided to quietly upload it to Soundcloud this week.
"We were like, 'Well we sit on it we do nothing, they leak it I don't get production credit,'" he said. "In the industry, you have to protect yourself first so I'm like, 'What if I just put it on Soundcloud?' The worst thing that could happen is that (James' agent) Paul would take it down."
