The most interesting man in basketball is sailing off into the sunset.

Fourteen-year NBA veteran Boris Diaw, who played last season in his native France, announced his retirement Thursday via a Bros. Stories video in which he's seen aboard a boat with friends Tony Parker and Ronny Turiaf.

"I've spent two or three weeks sailing," the 36-year-old told the pair in French. "And as I like it, I think I'm gonna stay on deck. I think it's the moment for me to retire."

Diaw, who last played in the NBA with the Utah Jazz in 2016-17, logged a total of 1,183 regular season and playoff games with Utah, Charlotte, the San Antonio Spurs, the Phoenix Suns, and the Atlanta Hawks. He won an NBA title alongside Parker with the Spurs in 2014, coming off the bench to play crucial minutes at center in The Finals against the Miami Heat.

He also retires having tied his mother's number of caps (247) for the French national team.

Off the floor, Diaw carved out a niche as one of the NBA's characters. He placed an espresso machine in his locker and inspired paintings reminiscent of the guy from the Dos Equis beer commercials.
