Report: Kings interested in signing Rodney Hood

The Sacramento Kings are determined to add a shooting guard, even after the Chicago Bulls matched their aggressive $78-million offer sheet to Zach LaVine.

The Kings are showing interest in Cleveland Cavaliers restricted free agent Rodney Hood, although an offer sheet isn't imminent, according to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee.

Cleveland added Hood in a trade-deadline deal with the Utah Jazz, and the Cavs have consistently maintained they plan to re-sign him this summer. However, Hood's stock dropped when he was benched while averaging just 5.4 points per game throughout a disastrous postseason. Then his value dropped even further when Hood refused to check into a game during garbage time.

The 25-year-old shooting guard is still a promising scorer and a capable catch-and-shoot threat, even if he continues to be plagued by questions about his health and toughness.

Sacramento has $19 million in cap room, and the Kings already revealed their offseason ambitions by pursuing LaVine. They're eager to make a push after selecting Marvin Bagley III with the No. 2 pick, and remain on the lookout for a perimeter scorer to pair with point guard De'Aaron Fox, last year's lottery pick.

Hood averaged 14.7 points across 60 appearances split between Cleveland and Utah last season, while hitting 38.1 percent from deep on 5.6 attempts per game.
