Lakers waive Ennis, avoid $1.7M salary for 2018-19
The Los Angeles Lakers announced Thursday that they have waived point guard Tyler Ennis.
The 23-year-old, four-season pro was under contract for $1.7 million next season, the final year of a two-year deal he signed last July. That figure would have become guaranteed had Ennis remained on the Lakers' roster past July 5, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Ennis averaged 5.2 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per game over parts of two seasons in Tinseltown.
Since being selected No. 18 overall out of Syracuse in the 2014 draft, Ennis hasn't managed to latch on anywhere long term. In addition to 76 games with the Lakers, he's made 71 appearances for the Milwaukee Bucks, 31 for the Houston Rockets, and eight for the Phoenix Suns - the team that drafted him.
