Report: Dwane Casey meeting with Pistons about head coach opening
Former Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey met with the Detroit Pistons on Thursday about their head coaching vacancy, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski had previously reported that Casey would be a front-runner for the position when Ed Stefanski was hired to head-up Detroit's new front office last week.
Despite winning 59 games and being named coach of the year by his peers, Casey was fired after his Raptors were swept out of the postseason by the Cleveland Cavaliers for a second consecutive season.
With an overall record of 373-307 as the bench boss in Toronto, Casey departed as the winningest coach in franchise history, while also leading the club to four playoff series wins and an Eastern Conference Finals appearance at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Stefanski and Casey have been on staff together in the past, when the former was the Raptors VP of basketball operations during the latter's first two years as head coach in 2011-13.
