With the 36th pick in the NBA Draft, the New York Knicks selected center Mitchell Robinson.

Robinson is somewhat of an unknown commodity. Though the five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American was highly sought-after coming out of high school, his commitment to Western Kentucky raised eyebrows - as did his subsequent decisions to leave the program last summer before playing a single minute of college basketball.

As Robinson briefly attended classes and practiced with the team at Western Kentucky, he was ruled ineligible to play in the G League, so he's essentially been off the radar for a full year while preparing for the 2018 draft. He's projected to be in the mold of an athletic, shot-blocking center, but has also been working on his range to accent his above-the-rim scoring ability.

What the analysts are saying

  • "With his potential as a rim-running, pick-and-roll-setting, and lob-catching rim protector/offensive rebounder, Robinson is exactly what NBA teams are actively scouring the globe for at the center position, both physically and from a skill set perspective." - Jonathan Givony, ESPN
  • "One of the most talented defensive centers in a class full of great defensive centers, Robinson is a tantalizing big man with his combination of commanding size and quick twitch athleticism." - Mike Gribanov, The Stepien
