Georgia Tech sophomore wing Josh Okogie will remain in the upcoming NBA draft and forgo his remaining college eligibility, he announced Monday.
Okogie's decision comes after he turned heads at the draft combine in Chicago last week. The performance likely earned him a selection in the back half of the first round or in the early second round, according to Sports Illustrated NBA draft analyst Jeremy Woo.
This past season at Georgia Tech, Okogie took on a leading role, earning third-team All-ACC honors after averaging 18.8 points per game, which ranked fourth in the conference. He also became just the sixth sophomore in program history to surpass 1,000 career points.
Okogie's style of play is likely well suited for today's pro game, as he's a 3-and-D swingman who can guard multiple positions. His 7-foot wingspan placed him fourth among all guards measured at the combine.
He also wowed during the strength and agility portion of the event, posting a combine-best three-quarter sprint time (3.04) and a 42-inch maximum vertical leap, which was tied for the top mark along with Villanova guard Donte DiVincenzo.
