The Philadelphia 76ers will exercise guard T.J. McConnell's team option for next season, president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo said, per Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The 26-year-old is set to make $1.6 million in 2018-19, and will likely continue serving as Ben Simmons' primary backup.

The 6-foot-2 guard has played his entire NBA career in Philadelphia, initially signing with the franchise in 2015 after going undrafted out of Arizona.

McConnell averaged 6.3 points and four assists across 76 contests in 2017-18.
