The Sacramento Kings announced the role of former fan-favorite Peja Stojakovic has been changed to assistant general manager, working under Kings general manager (and former teammate) Vlade Divac.

Stojakovic had previously served the franchise as vice president of basketball and team development, working predominantly with the Kings' minor-league affiliate. In his new role, the team says, the 40-year-old will support Divac, manage player development, evaluate talent, and work with the team's G League team in Stockton.

While the word "promotion" does not appear in the release and the new position seems to share much in common with his previous responsibilities, Divac does refer to Stojakovic's new job as "an expanded role."

As a sharpshooter forward, Stojakovic had his best years as a member of the Kings from 1998-06, averaging 18.3 points, five rebounds, and two assists per game. He was selected to the All-Star Game on three occasions and deployed his signature 3-point range to win the 3-point contest in 2002 and 2003.
