Discontent between a superstar and his team is like chum in shark-infested waters; sooner rather than later, the predators emerge looking for their next meal.

And amid the season-long disconnect between the San Antonio Spurs and their injured two-way stud, Kawhi Leonard, the Boston Celtics and general manager Danny Ainge were apparently keen to hunt a massive deal at February's trade deadline.

The Celtics made an offer for Leonard before the deadline, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

However, San Antonio reportedly rejected Boston's advance and offered no counter.

While the terms and particulars of the Celtics' offer are unknown, any deal centered around Leonard is a strong indication that Boston is looking to improve a roster that wound up in the Eastern Conference finals this past season despite injuries to All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.
