Karl-Anthony Towns owned the league Wednesday night by dropping an absurd 56-point, 15-rebound double-double - setting the Minnesota Timberwolves' new single-game scoring record in the process.

There was originally some lighthearted debate over how prepared Towns would need to be for Wednesday's opponent, the Atlanta Hawks. That's because Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons told Towns he should have "plenty of time" for another round of the online game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" Tuesday night because Towns and his T-Wolves wouldn't be facing a difficult opponent the next day.

The timing of Towns' statistical outburst wasn't lost on Simmons:

Hey, if it worked the first time, one good match certainly deserves another.
