Hornets' Walker outscores Grizzlies by himself in 1st quarter

The Memphis Grizzlies hit a new low Thursday night at the Spectrum Center.

It's bad enough that they only managed to muster 14 points through 12 minutes as a unit against the Charlotte Hornets, but to make matters worse, point guard Kemba Walker managed to outscore their entire team by himself.

Walker dropped 17 points on Memphis in the first quarter, connecting on 5-of-7 from the field, 3-of-5 from behind the arc, and a perfect 4-of-4 at the charity stripe.

The Grizzlies, on the other hand, missed their only free-throw attempt, all six of their 3-pointers, and knocked down just two more shots than Walker on 21 total attempts.

Walker wound up tying a franchise record he already owned with 35 points in the first half, which is the third-most points scored by a player in a single half this season. Lou Williams has the season high with 37 points for the Los Angeles Clippers, while James Harden once scored 36 points for the Houston Rockets.

Memphis entered their matchup with Charlotte owning the second-worst record in the Association at 19-52, a fraction of a game better than the 19-53 Phoenix Suns.
