Jimmy Butler has thrown down the gauntlet.

The 28-year-old didn't play a single minute for Team Stephen during his fourth straight All-Star Game on Feb. 18, as he wanted to rest his body for the final stretch of the season. In response to that decision, Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams - who was irked over not making the roster - tweeted out "(are you) serious bruh?" at the Minnesota Timberwolves forward.

When asked for his reaction to Williams' tweet, Butler issued a challenge to the sixth man scoring machine and anyone else who has a problem with him not competing in the All-Star Game.

"To Lou and to whoever else thinks they're an All-Star, with all due respect, LeBron (James) and them got $100,000 for winning," Butler told ESPN's Cassidy Hubbarth Friday night prior to Minnesota's game with the Houston Rockets. "So if you've got $100,000 to put up, and we play one another, you guard me and I guard you, I'm going to show you why. All this talk, put $100,000 up, and I'll show you why and where I'm at."

Williams later acknowledged that his tweet was merely intended to troll Butler and that he doesn't take issue with him not playing at Staples Center that night.

Butler also brought up how he was going to be tasked with defending James Harden in the Timberwolves' first game back after the break. He certainly understands why some fans would be upset over him choosing to rest, but his priority is his team and being at full strength to close out the 2017-18 campaign.
