The Utah Jazz will release Derrick Rose after landing him from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a hectic trade-deadline deal, sources told Shams Charania of Yahoo.
Rose is expected to draw interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves once he is released, league sources told Marc Stein of the New York Times. Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau and Rose shared great success during their years in Chicago.
The 29-year-old former MVP struggled badly in half a season with the Cavaliers. Rose was a clear minus on both ends of the floor and battled injuries that limited him to just 16 appearances. He also left the team for a few weeks to contemplate his future in basketball before ultimately returning to his rehab.
