Report: Jazz, Nuggets exploring trade involving Chandler, Johnson
The Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz are reportedly discussing a potential trade involving Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler and Jazz forward Joe Johnson, according to The Athletic's Michael Scotto.
The Nuggets are looking for capable ball handlers to give center Nikola Jokic a break on the offensive end, as their current stable of point guards has struggled to create offense for teammates and the roster has become reliant on the 6-foot-10 Serbian's passing ability.
Despite finally showing his age, Johnson could provide solid passing and playmaking, as well as another veteran perimeter threat for the Nuggets, who are looking to make a playoff push.
Chandler is having a rough season to date, averaging his lowest point total since his rookie season (8.8) while shooting a career low 41.4 percent from the field.
Johnson's $10.5-million deal will expire at the end of the season. Chandler is making $12 million this season and has a $12.8-million player option for next season.
