Porzingis: 'The postman doesn’t celebrate when he delivers mail'

Despite spurring his New York Knicks to a comeback 105-103 win against the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday, third-year big man Kristaps Porzingis doesn't think the team should get too overzealous.

After all, it's what they're paid to do.

“Really, we shouldn’t be celebrating like we did,” Porzingis said after the game, according to Newsday's Al Iannazzone. “The postman doesn’t celebrate when he delivers mail. But it was good to get a win, finally, on the road.”

Still, the "Postman" had plenty to celebrate. Porzingis shellacked the Pelicans' twin tower frontcourt of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins for 30 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, doing his part to erase New Orleans' eight-point lead with less than three minutes to play.

The Knicks are now just 3-12 away from Madison Square Garden this season, and with 13 of their next 17 games on the road, the Knicks will have to correct their early-season woes, or tumble dramatically toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

But as the Postal Service's unofficial creed goes: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." No matter where Porzingis' squad plays over the next month, the Postman must deliver.
