Ex-wife of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright charged with his murder
The ex-wife of Lorenzen Wright, Sherra Wright-Robinson, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the 2010 death of the former NBA player, authorities told The Associated Press.
The arrest happened approximately 10 days after 46-year-old Billy Turner was indicted for first-degree murder in Memphis.
The investigation intensified after police found the gun used in Wright's murder last month. Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings told reporters "the weapon was key," and added that police are still looking at other people in the investigation.
Deborah Marion, Wright's mother, believes the motive behind the death was the $1-million life insurance policy held by Wright, according to Katie Fretland, Yolanda Jones, and Marc Perrusquia of The Commercial Appeal.
Wright played two seasons at the University of Memphis and played five of his 13 seasons in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies.
