The Miami Heat were hoping for big minutes out of Kelly Olynyk this season after signing him to a four-year, $50-million deal. Olynyk will make $10.6 million this season, with a $1-million bonus if he plays at least 1,700 minutes.

So far, that isn't looking like a guarantee, with Olynyk playing 18.5 minutes per game, which translates to approximately 1,520 minutes if he plays all 82 games. Olynyk, however, is staying positive about potentially missing the $1 million.

"I mean, it's obviously nice to get," Olynyk said, according to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel. "I mean, it's not a concern, but you're doing whatever you can. I'm playing my minutes whenever they're handed to me and whenever you're out there. But it's not something that you're stressing about or striving toward."

Last season, his last with the Boston Celtics, Olynyk played 1,538 minutes in 75 games, averaging out to 20.5 minutes per game. For now, his minutes solely rely on Hassan Whiteside.

In the Heat's first game of the season, Olynyk started beside Whiteside, playing 10 minutes together. Since then, the two centers have yet to see any minutes together.

"When you come off the bench and play kind of minimal stretches, it's hard," Olynyk said. "Sometimes you go through a stretch where you just don't find any opportunities, whatever it may be. And, so, obviously the more minutes you play the easier it is to make a larger impact."

Olynyk is averaging 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and shooting a career-high 45.2 percent from three through 17 games.
