The Chicago Bulls locker room was dealt an early blow (quite literally) this season when forward Bobby Portis punched teammate Nikola Mirotic. The punch left Mirotic concussed and with facial fractures, forcing the Bulls to suspend Portis for eight games.

Nearly a month after the incident, Mirotic has returned to practice and Portis is ready to mend the relationship, but will keep his distance if he has to.

"I'm a high-character, low-maintenance guy," Portis told reporters according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. "If he approaches me, I'll welcome him with open arms."

It has been reported that Portis has tried to apologize to Mirotic, but to no avail. Mirotic has distanced himself from team activities and has avoided contact with Portis since the incident.
