Redick wanted to leave L.A., denies Doc's claim he 'begged' to return
There appears to be some disagreement over how J.J. Redick's tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers ended this summer. Just ask head coach Doc Rivers.
"J.J. was begging to come back," Rivers told ESPN's Zach Lowe in a recent profile of the new-look Clippers.
Redick, who signed a one-year, $23-million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers this summer, doesn't quite remember it that way.
"There was never any indication from my agent that I wanted to go back," Redick told ESPN. "I didn't beg to come back. I didn't want to come back."
Through four seasons with the Clippers, Redick averaged 15.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 44 percent from 3-point range, but the team often fell spectacularly short of reaching its full potential.
After announcing his departure from Los Angeles, Redick had some pretty choice words about his former workplace in a documentary for UNINTERRUPTED this summer; the 33-year-old claimed there was "no joy" in how the Clippers played last season.
