Chicago Bulls rookie Lauri Markkanen is wise beyond his years.

Before donning the No. 24 Bulls jersey for his inaugural season, Markkanen reportedly sought permission from the number's previous occupant, according to the New York Daily News' Frank Isola.

So, who was the last player to wear No. 24 for the Bulls? It was none other than the "White Mamba," current Boston Celtics television analyst Brian Scalabrine.

Markkanen has sparked optimism in the Windy City after a tremendous debut week. The 7-foot stretch big has averaged 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds while connecting on 45.5 percent of his 3-point attempts through his first three games.

Scalabrine's Bulls tenure wasn't quite as prolific. In his final two seasons, the White Mamba averaged 1.1 points and 0.6 rebounds per game on 8.3 percent 3-point shooting. Markkanen has already passed Scalabrine on the Bulls' all-time leaderboard for total minutes played.
