Report: Rockets looking to add PG depth after Paul injury
Bring on the reinforcements.
In the wake of an injury to Chris Paul, the Houston Rockets are reportedly exploring the trade market for short-term guard depth, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The representatives of 13-year veteran Jameer Nelson have also allegedly been contacted by the Rockets, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes. Nelson, a former All-Star, was recently waived by the Denver Nuggets after two-and-a-half seasons.
With just 14 players currently on the roster, the Rockets would not need to waive anyone to facilitate a free-agent signing.
The Rockets reportedly believe Paul could miss up to a month to recover from a lingering knee issue which hindered the nine-time All-Star throughout the preseason.
The team is afforded a large degree of flexibility in how they handle Paul's absence. After all, wing James Harden was the team's de facto point guard last season, leading the league with 11.2 assists per game and establishing himself as one of the more capable playmakers in the game today.
