Reggie Miller: Kyrie found out about trade on set of 'Uncle Drew' movie
There's a full-length "Uncle Drew" movie coming out next year, complete with its star, Kyrie Irving. Filming took place this summer, including co-stars like Reggie Miller, Chris Webber, and Shaquille O'Neal.
In fact, Miller was on set with Irving Aug. 30 when the latter discovered he had been traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics - and he says that Irving was the only one without his phone on him.
"We're in this small van getting ready to shoot a scene and all of our phones ding at the same time, except for Kyrie. He didn't have his phone," Miller said Wednesday on NBA on TNT's season-opening conference call.
"And we looked at our phones, and C-Webb, he looked at us like 'Kyrie Irving's been traded to Boston, right?' And we're looking at one another like, 'should we tell him?' Obviously we had to tell him cause he was like right in front of us. So we all showed him the phone."
The trade probably didn't come as a total shock to Irving, seeing as it had been heavily reported for over a month that the point guard wanted off the Cavs - something he or his agent never denied. Now after the fact, Irving freely admits that he wanted out from LeBron James' shadow, and even feels comfortable taking veiled shots at the city of Cleveland.
