Report: Jazz's Exum could miss season with separated shoulder

Dante Exum's season could be over before it begins.

The Utah Jazz point guard could miss the entire 2017-18 campaign due to a separated left shoulder and ligament damage, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 21-year-old Aussie suffered the injury in Friday's preseason game against the Phoenix Suns when T.J. Warren jumped over his back in an apparent attempt to block his shot or snatch the rebound. Exum immediately fell to the ground and grabbed his shoulder, writhing in pain before heading to the locker room.

Team officials and doctors are discussing recovery and timetable options, and are expected to announce the decision soon.

It's the latest in a growing list of injuries that Exum's dealt with over his short NBA career. The 6-foot-6 floor general missed all of 2015-16 with an ACL tear and suited up for just 66 contests last season after being bogged down by left knee tendinitis.

He's averaged 5.4 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.8 rebounds over 148 games since being drafted fifth overall in 2014.

Raul Neto and Donovan Mitchell should get more minutes behind Ricky Rubio in Exum's stead.
