Doug Collins: 'Under no circumstances' will I coach Bulls

Doug Collins is putting to bed any rumors that he will eventually return to the sidelines.

After being hired by the Chicago Bulls as a senior advisor of basketball operations on Tuesday, the former bench boss wanted to make it abundantly clear that he has no plans to ultimately return to his old gig.

"Under no circumstances am I going to coach here," Collins told Mike McGraw of The Daily Herald. "That shouldn't even be a question. I'm not going to miss any NU games."

Collins is a frequent visitor of Northwestern men's basketball games, with his son, Chris, serving as the team's head coach.

While it's not entirely clear what Collins' duties will be with the organization, the 66-year-old wants to help the Bulls' front office in any way he can.

"I want to provoke thought," Collins told The Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson. "My mind is very active. At end of day, Gar (Forman), John (Paxson), Michael (Reinsdorf), and Jerry (Reinsdorf) make decisions."

Collins served as the Bulls' head coach from 1986-89, leading the team to a 137-109 record.
