Isaiah Thomas is headed to Cleveland, where he'll reunite with a familiar face.

The All-Star point guard was included in the Boston Celtics' blockbuster trade with the Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving. Five minutes after Thomas was informed he'd been dealt Tuesday night, Cavs power forward Kevin Love texted him to welcome him to the club, according to SI's Lee Jenkins.

Long before they were stars in the NBA, Love and Thomas starred together as childhood AAU teammates in Oregon.

Last year, Thomas revealed he used to take a 2.5-hour train ride to Portland so he could stay with Love's family and play basketball.

"And then Kevin and his dad Stan, they would come pick me up and I would stay the weekend at his house so I could play on that AAU team," Thomas said on "The Vertical Podcast."

"It's something that me and Kevin, we'll talk about. It's crazy that we're both in the NBA and he is at the level he's at, and I'm doing pretty well. To be able to say that I used to go to his house every other weekend and stay the night, and his parents used to cook dinner, and all that type of thing, it's crazy to see that."

Thomas, 28, finished third in league scoring last season, putting up 28.9 points per game to go along with 5.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds. He led the Celtics to the No. 1 seed in the East and the conference finals, where they fell at the hands of the Cavs. Boston traded Thomas along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets' unprotected 2018 first-rounder for Irving.

Now IT's tasked with trying to help Love and Co. make their fourth straight trip to the NBA Finals.
