BIG3 suspends Allen Iverson for 1 game for unexcused absence

Allen Iverson is remorseful for no-showing Sunday's BIG3 game in Dallas, but that doesn't mean his actions won't be devoid of consequences.

The league has suspended Iverson one game for his unexcused absence, meaning he won't be available for the upcoming event in Lexington, Ky., on Aug. 6.

An investigation was launched into why The Answer wasn't around, with Iverson reportedly spotted at a casino the morning of, which could explain matters.

"Well, we talked about holding up the legitimacy of the league and he knows that him not showing up hurts us," BIG3 creator Ice Cube told USA Today's Adi Joseph. "Who's happy to be suspended? Nobody. But he understands that it's a necessary step in the development of the BIG3 who don't believe what we're doing and what we're going to do in the future.

"Our league is bigger than one man, and we've got Hall of Famers, champions, All-Stars, first-round picks, and we have to think about them. He understands that."

The former NBA Most Valuable Player did issue an apology, though, saying he had spoken to Ice Cube, and that he would do his best to make it up to both the league and fans moving forward.

Iverson has only played a grand total of 27 minutes across three games, with just six points, four rebounds, and three steals to his name for 3's Company.
