Report: Knicks willing to trade Melo, 1st-rounders for Irving
The New York Knicks were listed as one of Kyrie Irving's preferred trade destinations when news broke regarding Irving's desire to move on from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Details on a potential package between the Knicks and Cavs now seem to be emerging.
The Knicks have a "strong interest in Kyrie" and would be willing to include "future first-round picks and Carmelo Anthony" in a deal, sources told ESPN's Ian Begley.
Star power forward Kristaps Porzingis, however, is reportedly unavailable. The 21-year-old Latvian was drafted fourth overall in 2015 and has averaged an impressive 16.1 points and 7.3 rebounds across his first two seasons with New York.
Making Anthony available in a trade would fall in line with plenty of offseason reports, as the veteran Knick has made it clear he wants to join either the Cavaliers or move west to the Houston Rockets.
More recent reports have focused on Melo going to Houston, but with news breaking about Irving's potential exit, a trade swapping the two superstars seems much more feasible.
A potential deal between the two would allow the Cavs to net some much needed capital in upcoming NBA drafts, while also allowing Melo and LeBron James to pair up.
