The Grindfather remains an unrestricted free agent, but he may have another suitor in Minneapolis. The Timberwolves have joined the Los Angeles Clippers as a team interested in Tony Allen, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

Allen has already been linked with the Clippers, with one report this week stating that a sign-and-trade was being discussed.

Both are somewhat logical destinations. The Wolves added Jamal Crawford in an effort to address shooting needs, but Allen's offensive game remains limited, even though he averaged 9.1 points for the Memphis Grizzlies last season.

Still a defensive ace at age 35, Allen has a history with both Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau and Clippers coach Doc Rivers from his time with the Boston Celtics almost a decade ago. His tenure as a fan favorite in Memphis appears over amid reports the Grizzlies will only offer him the veteran's minimum.
